Harold "Pop" Annable Obituary

Harold “Pop” Annable, the “Self-proclaimed Mayor” of Navarino passed away comfortably and peacefully at Upstate University Hospital at Community General surrounded by all of his loving family on Tuesday February 26, 2019. Pop was born in Navarino, on September 8, 1928 to the late Harry and Mildred (Griffin) Annable. Pop graduated from Onondaga Central High School, but started his education in the two room school house in Navarino that is still on the farm’s property. As a founding member of the Navarino Fire Department which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, he probably held every position in the department including Chief and President. Pop was also a licensed pilot in the early 50’s and owned a Piper Cub with his lifelong friend Gale Ryan. Pop married Janet Mabie on September 18th, 1954.They met in South Onondaga, when he gave her a ride to the city to Business School. They married after a short courtship, and have lived in Navarino their entire married life. Survivors are his loving wife Janet, having been married close to 65 years, children Tim, Jon and his wife Mary Pat, Jill Ramsden and her husband Bill, Dan and his wife Kathy. He is also survived by nine grandchildren Corey Ramsden, Kimberly (Shawn) Kelly, Carly Annable, Jena (Craig) Parker, Makenzie Annable, Jaycie Annable, Kayla Ramsden, Kaylie Annable, Gavin Annable and great grandson Elijah Parker. Pop is also survived by his brother in law Don Caldeira and his children. He was predeceased by his sister Marian Borst. Services for Pop will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday March 3, at Plis Funeral Home. Friends may call on the family from 1-4 p.m. Saturday March 2 at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
