Louis Chomyk Obituary

Louis Chomyk, 85, of Auburn died Thursday morning, November 6, at his residence, following a valiant fight with Lung Cancer. Lou was a life resident of the Auburn area, the son of the late John and Eva Stanchock Chomyk. He was the Business Manager for the Auburn Correctional Facility, retiring after 32 years of service. He was an avid bowler, and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Auburn Bowling Association. He was a member of the Auburn Bowling Association Hall of Fame, and the 700 Club of America. He was also a member of the Elks Club and the Highland Park Golf Club. He was a collector of Auburn Memorabilia, and along with his wife presented slide shows to various organizations highlighting the history of Auburn. He enjoyed coffee and shooting pool with his golfing buddies. He is survived by his son John Chomyk of Auburn, nieces Patricia DiFabion, Cathy Troisi, Lisa Sigona and Lydia Bray, and nephews Tom and Bill Vess. Also surviving are his in-laws, Frank Sigona, Doris and George Bray and Helen Vess, close friends Melanie and Greg Pasik, and his cats Pumkin and Gigi. He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle "Myrt" Eidman Chomyk, with whom he was married for 59 years, on July 1, 2014. He was also predeceased by his sisters Anne Cerio, Catherine Sigona and Arlene Butera, and an infant brother Peter. The family wishes to thank Rene, Linda, Sanom, Jerry and Elaine for the wonderful care they gave to Lou. Friends are invited to attend Lou's Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. Saturday in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
