Mary Homik Gonza

Mary Homik Gonza, 93, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at The Commons on St. Anthony. Born September 3, 1920 in Auburn, Mary was the daughter of the late Daniel and Martha Homik. She was a graduate of Auburn East High School, class of 1939. She was a communicant of SS Peter & Paul Church. Mary is survived by her beloved sons David W. (Christine) Gonza of Auburn and Robert A. (Brenda) Gonza of Louisville, NC. She is also survived by three grandchildren Carrie A. (Tracey) Carruthers, Jeffrey and Shelby Gonza, two great- grandchildren Adelynn Grace and Jasper David Carruthers, her sisters Anna Krystyan and Janice (David Sr.) Stott, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William Gonza in 1966, and her brothers John Homik and Dr. Donald Homik. Funeral services for Mrs. Gonza will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 11 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Tuesday, from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral Home, 220 State St. The family wishes to thank all the 6th Floor Staff at the Commons on St. Anthony for their gracious care and kindness over the years.
