Thomas Bingham

Thomas J. “Bing” Bingham, Jr., passed away Friday October 7, 2016, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born April 19, 1932 in Syracuse to the late Thomas Sr., and Anna (Treis) Bingham. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and served in the Korean War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1955. He joined the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department in 1969, and rose to the rank of Sergeant, retiring with 20 years of service. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rose Marie (Menzi) Bingham, sons Thomas (Tracy) Bingham and John Bingham, daughter Deanna Leone, special son Albert (Celeste) Moore and 8 grandchildren. Siblings Joan (Carl) Horsford and Michael Bingham. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and was a diehard Yankees fan. Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Monday October 10 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday October 11, in the Chapel at Onondaga County Veteran’s Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of the Francis House for their loving care. Donations may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
