<p>MASSENA- Alice J. King, RN, “Bunny,” 96, formerly of Cline Drive, peacefully passed away early Tuesday morning, May 16, 2017 at the Highland Nursing Home.</p><p><br></p><p>Alice was born November 3, 1920 in Norwood, daughter of the late Fred S. and Bessie Minkler Hale. She was a 1938 graduate of Norwood High School and a 1942 graduate from St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing.</p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by her husbands, Olav Daniel Servick and Donald Smith. A marriage to Lloyd King later ended in divorce.</p><p><br></p><p>Alice was a Registered Nurse, working first at the Doctors Hospital, Belleview Hospital, and Potsdam Hospital, before becoming a college nurse at Potsdam State University. She later worked and taught at St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Massena, and Daughters of American Revolution, Nihanawate Chapter, where she served as treasurer and president. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Cretona 516, Grandmother’s Club of OES, serving as president and vice-president. Alice was also an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, at local blood drives for many years. She served as secretary for the Hale Cemetery Association, as she was an avid buff of genealogy. She also belonged to the RN Club, Birthday Club, Norwood Golden Agers, and the Massena Senior Citizens.</p><p><br></p><p>Alice is survived by her son, Joseph Daniel Servick and his wife, Judy (Balinskas) of Huntsville, AL; her daughter, Sandy (Servick) Hayes and her husband, Bruce Hayes of Cincinnati, OH; her grandchildren, Danny Servick, and his wife, Angie, and David Servick, all of Huntsville, AL; Julie (Kramer) Wachter and her husband, Tim, and Lori Dearnell and her husband, Scott, all of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Sam and Jack Servick, Kylie and Kaitlyn Kramer, Ava Wachter, and Brady and Aubrey Dearnell; and many nieces and nephews, especially her special and caring great niece, Tammy Holmes of Massena.</p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by a brother, Jefferson Hale; and three sisters, Marjorie Hale Grant, Irene Hale Moffett, and Eleanor Hale Crosby.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends may call Saturday 10:00 – 11:45 AM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM. The members of the Eastern Star will conduct their memorial ritual at 11:45 AM. Burial will be held privately at the Hale Cemetery, Norfolk.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial donations may be made in Alice’s memory to Daughters of the American Revolution.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
