Celia Caroline Cook-Conlin Obituary

AKWESASNE – Mrs. Celia Caroline Cook-Conlin, 96, a resident of Tsiionkwansoh:te, Cornwall Island Long Term Care Facility, passed away Friday afternoon, October 20, 2017 at the facility.


Celia was born at the family home on August 7, 1921, the daughter of the late Angus and Maryann (McDonald) Cook. She educated locally and graduated from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. On June 14, 1943, she entered the US Navy WAVES, proudly serving her country during World War II. She was honorably discharged on July 16, 1945.


Celia worked for many years as data entry clerk for the United States Government in various locations throughout the country. She later worked for Westinghouse in Horseheads, New York, where she retired. She enjoyed caning chairs, crocheting, knitting, and gardening.


She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne and Larry Muzzy of St. Petersburgh, Florida and Yvonne Norris of Ashville, North Carolina; her granddaughters, Carly, Emily, Megan, Andrea, and Alexandra; 5 Great Grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Louise Cook of Akwesasne; and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis James Conlin; her sisters, Christine Dempsey, Lillian Palmer, and Ann Parry; and her brothers, James Cook, Joseph Cook, and Solomon Cook, PhD.


Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday 10:30 AM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating. Cremation will follow.
