<p>GORDON DICK BENNETT</p><p><br></p><p>LOUISVILLE – Mr. Gordon Dick Bennett, 93, also known as “Pete” passed away on Thursday July 13, 2017 at his home.</p><p><br></p><p>Gordon was born November 27, 1923 in Rochester, the son of the late Caleb L. and Alice Weir Bennett. At the age of 6 weeks, they moved to Little Smokey and McLennan, North of Edmunton, Alberta. They moved back to Pittsford, New York outside of Rochester in 1928. He graduated from Pittsford High School in 1941 and at that time he went to work in the IBEW for Electrical Contractors. </p><p><br></p><p>He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1943 and retired as a Flight Officer and Glider Pilot Instructor in 1945 when the program was disbanded. After World War II, he returned to the electrical construction industry. In 1950, he came to Massena, where he was in charge of the electrical work on the 80-bed Massena Hospital. </p><p><br></p><p>It was in 1950, he met his future bride, Helen Edith Hazel. They were united in marriage by the Rev. Purcell in St. John’s Episcopal Church on June 13, 1953. After returning to the Rochester area, Gordon retired in 1980 as Vice President of Hickson Electrical Corporation in Rochester. They returned to Massena moving into their new home on Wilson Hill in January 1981.</p><p><br></p><p>Helen and Gordon enjoyed travels in the United States, Canada, and Europe throughout the years until Helen lost her eyesight in 2000. Helen predeceased him on May 2, 2012.</p><p><br></p><p>Gordon was predeceased by his father in 1937; his mother in 1988; and his brother, William and Jack.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his brother-in-laws, Gordon Hazel and his wife, Marion and Tom Hazel and his wife, Claire, all of Massena; and 17 nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>At his request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where memories and condolences may be shared online at www.donaldsonfh.com.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
