Howard J. Forney
<p>MASSENA – Mr. Howard J. Forney, 90, of 85 Nightengale Ave, Massena, peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, July 8, 2017 at his home.</p><p><br></p><p>Howard was born September 4, 1926 in Star Lake, New York, the son of the late Harry L. and Gladys (Spaulding) Forney. He was a graduate of Clifton-Fine Central School and proudly served his country in the US Navy. On November 22, 1956, he married Rose A. Meyers at the Ogdensburg Baptist Church, she predeceased him on June 30, 2004.</p><p><br></p><p>Howard was a crane operator for the Operating Engineers Local 545 in Syracuse until his retirement after 30 years of service. He was avid stock car racer and fan. Howard was also an active member of the AMVETS, American Legion, and VFW. </p><p><br></p><p>Howard is survived by his children, Harry Forney and his fiancé, Liz Brown of Massena; Stewart and Mary Anne Forney of Tennessee; and Theresa and Greg McAdam of Virginia; 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parent and wife, Howard was predeceased by his sister, Alice Meeker.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends may call Tuesday 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Rob Schirmer, Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
