JAMES E. LOVE

MASSENA- James E. Love, 81, of Massena, peacefully passed away Thursday Morning, June 22, 2017, at the St. Regis Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born April 4, 1936 in Ogdensburg, son of the late Floyd J. and Mildred Legault Love. He attended St. Mary’s School in Ogdensburg, and on September 7, 1957, he married Barbara J. Cross at Sacred Heart Church. Barbara predeceased him on August 6, 1991.

James was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was a salesman for Cappione’s Inc., starting in 1957, working until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed working, tending to his garden, and in his younger years, taking his daughters fishing. But most of all, he treasured spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his five daughters, Jennifer and Michael Romeo, Julie and David Lawrence, Candace and Thomas O’Donnell, Catherine L. Love, and Beth and Timothy Germano, all of Massena; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Debbie Thomas, and Linda Mentry, both of Brownville; and Marianne Kirk of Mitchell, IN; and six brothers, Danny, Paul, Thomas, and Pat Love, all of Massena; Philip Love of Alabama; and Edgar Love of Indiana.

Besides his wife Barbara, James was predeceased by a son, James E. Love, Jr. at birth; and two sisters, Dorothy Goodway, and Elizabeth Caza.

There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, at 2:00 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Louisville. Burial will follow at Louisville Community Cemetery.
