<p>AKWESASNE – Mrs. Marie Mitchell Peters, 74, of 2190 River Road, Sugarbush, passed away Wednesday evening, March 29, 2017 at the home of her son, Louie with her family by her side.</p><p><br></p><p>Marie was born September 13, 1942 in St. Regis, the daughter of the late Joseph Cole and Monique King. She was adopted and raised by Joseph and Hattie Mitchell. She attended school in Hogansburg and Snye. </p><p><br></p><p>Marie was a homemaker raising her four sons. She practiced and had great knowledge in herbal medicines and enjoyed traveling and telling stories.</p><p><br></p><p>Marie is survived by her sons, Norman Peters (Eileen Montour), Allen Peters, PJ Peters (Heather), and Louie “Tehate” Peters; her grandchildren, Krystal, Wakenda, Kelly, Orenda, Randy, Joe, Trevor, Paisley, Oscar, Jake, and Levi; her great grandchildren, Saige, Kahlie, Camden, Kaina, Jessy, and Leineigh; her sisters, Donna and Nancy.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband, Levi Peters on January 4, 2009 and an infant daughter at birth.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends may call the home of her son, Tehate Peters, 2040 River Road starting at 4:00 PM Friday until Sunday 11:00 AM when the death ceremonies will be conducted. Burial will follow on the family property in Sugarbush.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance Service or the Akwesasne Home Support.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are entrusted to the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where memories and condolences may be shared online at www.donaldsonfh.com.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>Obituary
