<p>MASSENA – Mrs. Phyllis J. Smith, 78, of 8 Garfield Street, unexpectedly passed away Sunday morning, September 17, 2017 at her home.</p><p><br></p><p>Phyllis was born April 9, 1939 in Chateaugay, the daughter of the late Lawrence L. and Dorothy Vincent Patnode. She attended Massena Catholic Schools and graduated from Massena High School in 1957. In 1959, she married Robert W. Smith at the Church of the Sacred Heart. </p><p><br></p><p>Phyllis was an office manager first for A. Cappione, Inc for 28 years, before going to work for Pittston Coca-Cola, Chicago Coca-Cola, New England Coca-Cola in Massena. Family was truly important to Phyllis, she cherished the time with them, especially her grandchildren while watching their sporting events.</p><p><br></p><p>Phyllis is survived by her husband, Robert; her sons, Robert Jr. and his companion, Chrissy Wolfendale of Massena; and Steve and Missy Smith of Massena; her grandchildren, Joshua Centrella of Massena, Ashley Smith of Indiana, Austin Smith currently stationed in Greece with the US Navy, and Aleisha Smith of Massena; and her great grandchildren, Robert and Marcus. </p><p><br></p><p>She is also survived by her sisters, Donna and George Annals of Oswego and Linda Patnode of Syracuse; her brothers, Donald and Carol Patnode of Bloomington, Indiana and Charles and Pauline Patnode of Oswego; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Buda in 2017.</p><p><br></p><p>At her request, there will be no services. A luncheon celebrating her life will be held Wednesday 1:00 PM at the Massena Moose Lodge.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Massena Boys and Girls Club.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>Obituary
