Salisbury – Frank Lee “Butch” Sherwood, 75, a lifelong Salisbury, CT resident died peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT surrounded by his caring family. Butch worked as a maintenance supervisor for Lime Rock Park Raceway in Lakeville, CT for over forty years prior to his retirement. Born March 5, 1944 in Sharon, CT he was the son of the late C. Stanley and Grace (Webb) Sherwood. He was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School and served his country in the United States Airforce from 1965 until his honorable discharge as an Airman First Class (Sergeant) in 1969. He served in Vietnam in 1968. He was a life member of the Canaan VFW and was an avid skier and ski jumper. He loved to hunt and fish in his spare time and enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends that will miss him dearly. Butch is survived by his son, Jacob Sherwood of Torrington, CT; his nieces and nephews, Merrilee Sherwood Alexander and Kim Louise Sherwood of Salisbury, CT and Holly Elliott of Georgia, Chris Sherwood of Portland, OR, Mike Sherwood of Salem, OR, Howard Paine of Salisbury, CT and Tom Paine of Taconic, CT. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings; George Sherwood, Elisabeth (Betty) Warland, Lois Paine, Charles (Stubby) Sherwood, Roy Sherwood, William(Billy) Sherwood, Grace (Ginger) Semar and nephews; Robert Paine, Jack, Jimmy and Jerry Semar and Chet Warland. There are no calling hours. At Butch’s request a “Party” will be held to celebrate the life and legend of "Old Butchie" as he lived and loved his life in Salisbury. The "Party" will be held at Lime Rock Park, 60 White Hollow Road, Lakeville, CT on Sunday, October 17th, 2021 from 1-4pm at the Chalet Building in the infield.
