Ancram – Lorraine Ann Wheeler, 81, a six year resident of Ancram, NY formerly of Amenia and Wassaic, NY died Friday, July 18, 2019 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Lorraine worked at Wassaic Developmental Center as a therapy aide in the community homes and also for Division for Youth (DFY) in Wingdale as a stock room clerk. She was a substitute rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and a driver for DART. Born June 27, 1938 in Sharon, CT she was the daughter of the late Douglas H. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Miller) Greene. Following her graduation from high school she attended beauty school in Newburgh, NY. In her spare time she enjoyed canvas painting and was an avid gardener. Lorraine is survived by her two sons; David Wheeler, Jr. of Hillsdale, NY and Richard Wheeler and his wife Gail of Millerton, NY, two grandsons; David Wheeler III of Sharon, CT and U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Adam Wheeler of Beaufort, SC and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Bradley Wheeler of Ancram and a brother, Douglas Greene of South Amenia. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 4-6pm at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. A funeral service will be held at 6pm at the funeral home. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate. Burial will be private.
