Vincent Cacciola NYACK, New York Obituary

Vincent Cacciola

Vincent Cacciola, endearingly known by many as either “Vinny”, “Mr. C” or “Papa Vin”, died June 14, 2017 at the age of 71 after a bout with colon cancer. Vinny was born on September 16, 1945 in the Bronx, NY. He was a great young ball player and avid Mets fan, despite his Bronx upbringing. Vinny graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Scranton University and a Master’s Degree in education from Adelphi University. He taught for several years before transitioning to corporate America where he worked most of his career for the State of New York in their Insurance Department. Throughout his life, Vinny was always watching the weather – meteorology was a true passion and serious hobby of his. In 1975, Vinny moved to Rockland County to establish roots with his family and remained a Congers, N.Y. resident ever since. He was actively involved in his church community; amongst other things, he served on the St. Ann’s Parish Council for many years, helped to construct the church’s chapel and taught CCD. Those who knew Vinny well knew him as a gentle giant – despite his prominent stature, he was a good hearted, kind man who lived his life with integrity and who enjoyed simple pleasures. Vinny is survived by his wife Antoinette, two daughters Michelle and Andrea, their husbands Jay and Brad, four grandchildren Charlie, Grayson, Seryn and Hanya and older brother Joseph. He was predeceased by his parents, Carmelo (Charlie) and Salvatrice (Sally). Wake will be held from 4-8pm on Monday, June 19th and Funeral Mass will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, June 20th. Both of these services will be held at St. Ann’s Church located at 16 Jefferson Street in Nyack, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, Vinny’s family welcomes contributions to the Colon Cancer Alliance, specifically to their family team “Vinny’s Snow Angels” who will be participating in this fall’s NYC Undy run/walk: https://fundraise.ccalliance.org/newyorkcity/VinnysSnowAngels
