Virginia McVeigh Obituary

Virginia Anne McVeigh “Ms. Ginny” went to her eternal rest August 25, 2013. She was born on July 15, 1933 to Charles and Dorothy Brown in Bronx, New York. Virginia graduated from Aquinas High School in Bronx, NY in 1951and attended Rockland Community College where she attained her RN degree in 1977. She was an Operating Room Nurse for Nyack Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian and for most of her career in Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY retiring in 2002. She loved her work with Neurosurgery. After retiring she enjoyed a part time job at Lord and Taylor in the sales department for three years. She also volunteered at Marydell Teaching, Sr. Cecilia’s One2One Learning Organization. Ginny truly loved her family and friends and always had a kind word and a lovely smile. Her grandchildren gave her so much happiness and you could feel the love she had for them. Virginia was such a special person that no words are really adequate. She brought pleasure to everyone that knew her and will be sadly missed. She left us all with such loving and treasured memories. She loved to Tap Dance, travel and mostly spending time at Long Beach Island. Ginny was predeceased by her husband Thomas. She is survived by her son Thomas McVeigh of Burlington, Washington, daughter Jeanne Marie and Son- in -law Dan Hollis of South Nyack, NY, and son Christopher, daughter-in-law Amy McVeigh and her beloved grandchildren Christian, Ryan and Jamison McVeigh of Warwick, NY. She is survived by her many relatives and friends, most of all her beloved friend Ann Criscione. The family would like to thank her caregivers and the United Hospice of Rockland for all of their love and support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to One2One or United Hospice of Rockland. Visiting will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
