Janet Anne Stevens Pleasantville, New York Obituary

Janet Anne Stevens

On Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 2:22pm, Janet Anne Stevens, age 75, of North Salem, NY left this earth after a difficult battle with liver disease. She passed peacefully with her family at her side. Janet was born in Owego, Tioga, New York to Charles Edwin and Ruth Perry (Smith) Stevens on January 20, 1945. She graduated from Greencastle Senior High School in 1963. She then attended Indiana State University before marrying and giving birth to her two children, Mark and Stephanie. Janet was a mother, healer, doula, spiritual advisor, artist, and a friend to everyone she met. Most will remember her loving touch as a licensed massage therapist. Janet’s work in this field spanned decades and gave her the opportunity to build a beautiful community of lifelong clients and friends. She is well respected for her work in this field, especially with her time serving the responders at Ground Zero. Family and friends of Janet also know well of her giving, free spirit and love for animals, including in particular, her very special Buddy. She volunteered with local animal rescues and assisted in transporting foster animals to their new forever homes. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Stevens. She is survived by her son, Mark (Lorena) Abbott, her daughter, Stephanie (Paul) Taltavall and her grandson, Calvin. She is also survived by her sister, Betsy Kuske and by loving nieces, nephews and a host of long time loving friends. A special thank you to all of the family and friends, and all of the caregivers, who helped during this difficult time. The memory of Janet Stevens will live in the hearts of everyone she touched for years to come. At this time, due to our current world circumstances, no “in-person” services will be planned. However, a virtual Celebration of Life will be planned in the near future. If you would like to receive information about this service, please send an email to RememberingJanetS@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Breeds Rescue Attn: Sarah Sharma, 20 S. Lancaster Ln, Newton, PA 18940. This is where she adopted her sweet Buddy.
