Katherine S. Brothers Obituary

KATHERINE S. BROTHERS

NORFOLK- Katherine S. Brothers, 64, of 310 River Road, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born March 13, 1952 in Potsdam, daughter of the late Harry C. and Mabel Hull Despaw. She was a graduate of Potsdam High School, and on October 31, 1989, she married Allen Brothers in Norfolk, with the Judge Donald Lustyik officiating.

She was a homemaker, with an open door and heart for family and friends. Family was her priority, and she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved all kinds of arts and crafts, going to art class with her friends, and painting. She also enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid hunter.

Kathy was an active member of the Norfolk Wesleyan Church, where she enjoyed working with the children, youth and adults; whether she was teaching, praying, visiting or putting her arts and crafts skills to good use, she always enjoyed working with many children over the years.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Allen; her children, Elizabeth Mousaw of Oklahoma, and Christopher Brothers of Norfolk; a step-son, Stephen and Tracy Brothers of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Kaitlynn Mousaw, Nicole, Cody, Aiden, Selah and Emma Brothers; her sisters Vickie and James Laing of Oneonta, NY; and Shirley and Christopher Mousaw of DeKalb, NY; her brothers, Gary and Diane Despaw of Florida; and William Despaw of Vermont; and her nieces and nephews, Jimmy, Renee, Jamie, Jesse, Derek, Aaron, and Kyle.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday, at the Norfolk Wesleyan Church with Pastor Diane Hutchinson and Brendon Hardy officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley or the Norfolk Wesleyan Church.
