Helen J. Hanast-Urbano

Helen J. Hanast Urbano, 92, of Red Hook, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at home. A local resident since 1956, and previously of Yonkers, NY, Helen was born December 18, 1924 in Yonkers to the late Andrew and Helen Olah Tarr. She had attended NYU. Helen had worked as a bookkeeper for Dwelley & Bolger Advertising in Poughkeepsie, NY and prior to that she was a personal shopper for Saks and Bloomingdales. She was married to Ernest Hanast and he predeceased her on September 4, 1970. Helen then married Sebastian C. "Buster" Urbano on October 26, 1975 at the Vassar College Chapel in Poughkeepsie and he predeceased her on January 15, 2008. Helen is survived by her daughter, Victoria C. (Vikki) Hanast of Tivoli, NY, step-son: Robert Urbano of Poughkeepsie, NY, step-daughter: Mary Ann Desilets, her niece Lorraine Jones and her nephews William and Stephen Yakimetz. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 3:00-7:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 10:00am in the funeral home and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
