Andrew S. Bunal

Andrew S. Bunal, age 81, of Floyd, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2017 at the Colonial Park Nursing Home. Andy was born on November 24, 1935 to the late Stanley and Tekla Bunal, the youngest of 17 children. He was educated in the Holland Patent School System. On June 14, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Janice Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 as a mechanic. He worked at Rome Strip Steel for 33 years, retiring in 1997. He loved the outdoors; which included farming, always tinkering outside with his brother, his garden, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Andy is survived by his wife, Janice; two daughters and sons in law, Teresa and Frank Johnson, Laura and Patrick Hurley and their children, Katelyn and her husband, Joseph Carstenbrock, Layna, Tyler and Jenna; two sons and daughters in law, Tom and Lisa Bunal and their children, Jason, Kayla, Korey, and Jeff and Connie Bunal and their daughter, Alexandra; five great grandchildren; a brother and sister in law, Cecil and Ceil Bunal; and a brother in law and sister in law, Frank and Irene Taylor. He was predeceased by a son, Brian in 1991; and 15 siblings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Church of the Transfiguration, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Park for their care and compassion shown to Andy.
