Carrie S. Scherzi

Carrie S. Scherzi, age 95, of Rome, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2017, at the Francis House in Syracuse. Carrie was born in Rome on September 23, 1921 to the late Giovanni and Maria Petrosina Scherzi. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1940 and shortly afterwards, began her career working at Rome Cable Corp., retiring in 1983. Her 95 years of life were all spent in Rome. Carrie was an active member of St. Peter’s Church. Carrie is survived by a niece, Vera Greci; nephews, John, Jim and Joe Scherzi; and six grand, nieces and nephews, Mary Therese Butler, Barbara Spinella, John Nugent, Dennis Greci, Joan Cawley, and Ann Sullivan. She was predeceased by three sisters, Loretta Fauci, Tess Bostwick, and Connie Hall; and three brothers, Joe, Frank and James Scherzi. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Church, with the Rev. Philip A. Hearn officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208. Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
