LCpl Daniel J. Geary U. S. Marine Lance Corporal Daniel J. Geary, age 22, of Rome, was killed in action while proudly and courageously serving his Country in the war on terrorism. He was born in Rome, a son of Michael A., Sr. and Agnes Squadrito Geary, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 2006. He was a member of the AFJROTC program at Rome Free Academy. Daniel proudly joined the U. S. Marines in 2006. Daniel loved his family and his community. He enjoyed the many hours spent on family bowling outings and volunteered at many community service events. Daniel is survived by his parents, Michael and Agnes; his grandmother, Gloria Geary; his fiancée, Rachel Paterson; four sisters, Sherry Connelly, Naomi Geary, Elise Geary and Amber Geary, all of Rome; two brothers, Michael A. Geary, Jr., of Boonville, and Dillan P. Geary of Rome; several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church.
