Louis J. Cosimeno

Louis J. Cosimeno, Jr., age 74, of Rome, passed away on April 23, 2017, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Louie was born in Rome on September 21, 1942 to the late Louis Sr. and Antonetta Giambrone Cosimeno. He was educated in the Rome Schools. On June 12, 1965, he was united in marriage to the former Diane Barnes-Winter; a union of 52 years. Louie owned and operated L.C. General Trucking in Rome. Louie was a workaholic and loved every minute of it. He always kept his truck spotless and would go to extremes to do so. He was also a very good eater. He always made his rounds to his friends’ lunches and helped them save a few calories! Louie is survived by his loving wife, Diane; three daughters and their husbands, whom Diane and Louie loved as sons, Lisa & Woody Zurek of Deerfield, Louise & Pete Schipano of Rome, and Diane & Jim D'Amico also of Rome; grandchildren, Louis Cosimeno, Serina Cosimeno (Jake Warner), Katelynn, Olivia, & Louis Zurek, Santino & Lucca Schipano, and Gianna & Elena D'Amico; one great granddaughter, Isabella Warner; a brother and sister in law, Nicholas & Sandy Cosimeno, and a brother in law, Robert Blood; and several special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and a brother in law, Vincetta Blood and Antonette and John Blaich. Additional special survivors include, Dawn Comeau of Rome, Marilyn and John Pope and families, Daniel and Paula Winter, and Uncle Howie and Aunt Ellen Winter, all of Massachusetts. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 AM to 1:30 PM prior to the service. The family would like to thank Dr. Poonati, his wonder nurses and staff, Dr. Kulick and staff, Nurses Kelly Boulier & Donna Leonard from CNY Visiting Nurse Association, the nurses & staff of D5 East and the 5th Floor Neurology at Albany Medical Center, along with a special thank you to Dr's Madhavi Kambam, Walter Scott and Edward Lee for the care and compassion expressed to Louie and his family.
