Merritt D Boucher Obituary

It is with very heavy hearts to inform everyone who knew Merritt Douglas Boucher, 60, of Taberg, has passed away peacefully with his family at his side on July 14, 2017. Merritt was born in Nyack, New York to Henry and Elizabeth Boucher, who both worked as registered nurses. He was a member of the United States Navy. While at Rockland Community College obtaining his nursing degree, Merritt met his cherished wife, MaryAnne. Together, they decided to raise their own family on a farm in Taberg, New York. His humbleness, compassion, strength, and wisdom have been his mainstay of his life as a husband, father, son, sibling, and grandfather. He has truly touched many lives in his nursing career of 35 years. His passions were farming, gardening, fishing, playing his guitar, and helping others. Merritt has left an imprint on each person he met in his lifetime and countless memories are cherished by all who have known him. Merritt leaves behind a large loving family, his wife of 35 years, MaryAnne; daughter, Allison Johnson and son-in-law Rich; son, Peter Boucher and daughter-in-law Laura; son, Paul Boucher and daughter-in-law Heather and son Jonathan Boucher; mother, Elizabeth Boucher, sister Mellissa Hinton and brother-in-law Joe; brother, Ed Boucher and sister-in-law Bernadette; sister, Peg Bone and brother-in-law Tom; as well as his many loving grandchildren and extended family. Merritt joins his father Henry Boucher who passed away three years ago. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Rome Hospital ICU staff for their exceptional care and support during this difficult time. Merritt’s family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut, Rome, New York. His funeral service with military honors will be on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 9168 Main Street, Taberg, New York.
