Richard C. Edick Obituary

Richard C. Edick, Jr, age 50, of Rome, passed away August 3, 2011, after a brief illness. He was born April 3, 1961, in Constableville, NY a son of Richard C. Edick and Virginia Snyder. Rick graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1979, having played “fullback’ for the Black Knights. He then served in the U.S. Navy until 1983, aboard the aircraft carrier Midway, stationed in Yokushka, Japan. He served in the field of photographic intelligence. Rick furthered his education at MVCC in the culinary arts program and worked at various area restaurants as a cook. He later began a freelance painting business in New Hampshire, which he continued in New York. For the past eight years Rick also worked for the State of New York; most recently as a safety officer at the CNY Psychiatric Center Rick was passionate about his music. He attended hundreds of concerts and enjoyed singing and playing guitar with his brother and father. He also loved to cook and shared this talent with family and friends in the form of his signature cheesecakes. Rick also spent time pursuing his interest in fishing, camping and mountain biking. Rick is survived by his mother and stepfather, Virginia and Salvatore Pulizzi of Rome; father and stepmother, Richard and Donna Edick of Utica; a sister, Richelle and L. Robert Ciota of Camillus; a brother and sister in law, Nicholas and Carrie Pulizzi of Camden; and nephews, Noah and Jackson Pulizzi The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday 4 to 7 PM
