Obituary: Anna O. Quinn, 93, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare New Hartford. She was born February 21, 1916, in Colletorto, Italy, the daughter of Julia and Joseph Occhionero
Anna came to this country in 1926 with her mom, brother and sister and was educated in Rome, New York.
On August 11, 1940, she married Leo A. Quinn in St. John’s the Baptist Church Rome, New York. He died March 8, 1980.
Anna owned and operated the Hollywood Curtain Shop, Dominick Street and later on James Street in Rome. She then later worked for Montgomery Wards for over 20 years, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Quinn was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Anna will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond A. and Anne Quinn, New Hartford; John F. and Debra Quinn, Whitesboro; six grandchildren, John (Megan) Quinn, Lisa, Anthony, Christopher, Matthew (Danielle) Quinn, Melane (Tom) Mulchy , three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo, sister, Filotea and brother Emanuel Occhionero.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Katherine Luther Home, Gordon Unit for their care and compassion shown to Anna during her stay there.
Services: Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 8:15A.M. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00A.M. Interment St. John’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Friday. Contributions may be made in Anna’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 441 W.
