Obituary: Carl R. Mierek, Sr., 65, of Westernville, passed on to the Lord on the same day of his birth with his loving family by his side, Tuesday, July 20, 2010. He was born July 20, 1945, in Utica, the son of Joseph and Kinga Stolarczyk Mierek Sr. He was a graduate of Holland Patent High School. He was formerly married to Linda Woolheater.
Carl owned and operated Mierek Sunnybrook Dairy Farm in Westernville with his brother Thomas.
He was a member of Transfiguration Church. He was a caring father and uncle, and he will be missed by many. Carl was a member of the Carmichael Hill Game Club and had a passion for hunting.
Mr. Mierek is survived by a son, Carl, Jr., of Westernville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Annette Waterman, of Westernville, Chris and Maynard Anken, of Holland Patent, and Maria and Joseph Fazekas, Sr., of Westernville; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph and Virginia Mierek, Jr., George and Barbara Mierek, Sr., and Thomas Mierek, all of Westernville; and several neices, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In the words of Tolstoy, Carl found the key to happiness in "a quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them."
Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 22, at 11am at Transfiguration Church. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. There are no calling hours. Contributions in Carl's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
