Obituary: Caroline A. Versace, 92, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Rome Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born on January 24, 1918, in Rome, the daughter of Antonio
and Antoninette Condella Belmont. She attended Rome schools. On October 30, 1937, Caroline was united in marriage to Rocco Versace, Jr., in Rome. Mr. Versace passed away on May 21, 2001.
Caroline was employed by Rome Developmental Center for twenty years, retiring in 1979.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Caroline was an avid bowler.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rocco and Cecile Versace, of Rome, and Robert and Judi, of Mabank, TX; two sisters, Palma Ciotti, of Rome, and Mary DeBonzo, of Alabama; six grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, James Guy, Meade Versace, Michael Versace, and his wife, Kristen, Matthew Versace, Danielle Patterson, and Andrew Versace; and five great-grandchildren, Colin Guy, Peyton Guy, Hannah Patterson, Brooke-Lyn Patterson and Jonathan Meade Versace; and several nieces and nephews. Caroline was predeceased by three sisters, Nora Harritatos, Rosie Cardillo, and Michellina Belmont; and six brothers, Pasquale Belmont, Frank Belmont, Peter Belmont, Gaetano Belmont, Anthony Schipano, and Louis A. Schipano, Jr.
Services: Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of the Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 AM where the Rev. John F. Hogan will officiate. Interment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery. There will be private calling hours for the family. Contributions may be made in Caroline’s memory to her favorite charity, the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
