Obituary: David L. Oliver, 64, Verona, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. He was born on January 11, 1945, in Rome, the son of Alan and Doris Joanis Oliver. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy.
David was employed by Hood Dairy in Oneida for several years.
Mr. Oliver proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War.
Surviving besides his mother, Doris, of Rome; are a daughter and son-in-law, Amiee and Anthony Durso, of Rome; a sister, Joyce Perry and her companion, William Johnson, of Rome; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick and Carol Oliver, of Lee Center, and Charles and Kathy Oliver, of Rome; two cherished granddaughters, Alyxandra and Arysta; and several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by a sister, Jane Reilly; and two brothers, George Oliver and Timothy Oliver.
As a continuation of David’s selflessness in life, his corneas have been donated to the CNY Eye and Tissue Bank.
Services: Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
