Obituary: Donna L. Nawoj, 65, of Winchester Dr., Rome, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at her home with her loving family at her side.
She was born on July 30, 1947, in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Earl and Jean Robinson Smith. She was a high school graduate and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Keene State College.
On February 13, 1971, Donna was united in marriage to Bruce Nawoj in Manchester, NH.
Donna was a teacher in the Utica City School District for many years, retiring in 2007.
She was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church where she volunteered much of her time. Donna was also a member of the Patrician’s Dance Club and the Hundred Dance Club.
Surviving besides her loving husband of forty-one years, Bruce; are a daughter and son-in-law, Kristen Nawoj and Dan Gottlieb, of Washington, DC; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Anna Nawoj, of Waynesboro, PA; her mother, Jean, of Concord, NH; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sheila and Steve Malynowski, of Rochester, NH, Cheryl and Ray Grandmaison, of Raymond, NH, and Cindy O’Leary, of Raymond, NH; a granddaughter, Riley Nawoj; and several nieces and nephews. Donna was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Dale Smith.
Donna touched so many lives with her love and compassion. We will miss her deeply.
Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Delta United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM. There are no calling hours.
