Obituary: Dorothy E. Weber, 96 of Rome, New York, passed away, Friday, November 9, 2012 in Rome Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side.
She was born on January 7, 1916 in Pennsylvania the daughter of Mela and Barbara Zalac Narolis. Dorothy was a graduate of Camden Central School.
On May 8, 1943 she married Clyde W. Weber in St. Patrick’s Church, Taberg. He passed away September 27, 1997.
Mrs. Weber was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Taberg and it’s Altar and Rosary Society, a life member of the Meeker-O’Rourke American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and also was a member of the Annsville Friendship Club. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Dorothy worked at Agway and Rome Memorial Hospital. For many years, Dorothy and her husband, Clyde operated a seasonal produce stand at their residence.
Mrs. Weber had a caring and loving nature and enjoyed helping others. Dorothy’s love of cooking always left her guest with a big smile and a full belly. With a wink of her eye she could “Melt Your Heart.”
Dorothy was survived by three children, William C. Weber, Nancy (Edward) Staple, Betty Jean(David) O’Brien, all of Rome; for siblings,Andrew Narolis, Taberg; Francis (Barb) Narolis, Taberg; George (Betty) Narolis, Topeka, Kansas; Anna Betsinger, Canantota; four grandchildren, Yvette Staple, Rome; Ashley (Anthony) Vinci, Rome; David O’Brien, II, Little River, South Carolina; Justin O’Brien, Rome and two great-grandchildren,Anthony Joseph Vinci, Jr. and Addyson Jean Vinci, both of Rome. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Bruggerman, Esther Slocum, Helen Narolis and five brothers, Joseph, Michael, Mela, Jr., John and James.
Dorothy’s family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Potluri and the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility for the wonderful care provided to her. A special appreciation is noted for Tina Marlowe for providing heartfelt support over many years.
Services: Funeral will be held Monday 9:00AM at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome, and St. Patrick’s Church 10:00AM where a Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Francis A. Wapen. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Sunday from 3:00 6:00PM. Contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Rome Rescue Mission.
