Obituary:Elinor R. Brenon, 91, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 from natural causes at the Lutheran Home Saul Unit in Clinton. She was born May 29, 1919, in Rome, the daughter of Leo and Ethel Giehl Brenon.
Elinor returned to the Mohawk Valley after living most of her adult life in New Jersey. She lived for 19 years in the Clinton Manor Apartments prior to moving to the Assisted Living facility at the Lutheran Home.
She is survived by three nieces. Kathleen Brenon Gualtieri, of Rome, Michele Centro Beratta, of Stuart, FL, and Karen Centro DeKay, of Daphne, AL; two nephews, Mark Brenon, of Panama City, FL, and Dennis Brenon, of Rome; a sister-in-law, Irene Brenon, of Hazlet, NJ; and a special cousin, Mary Giehl Zegibe and her husband, George, of New Hartford, with whom she was very close. Elinor was predeceased by her mother and father; a sister, Mildred Brenon Centro, of Sylvan Beach; two brothers, Chester Brenon, of Sylvan Beach, and George Brenon, of New Jersey; a niece, Nancy Brenon Zimmermann, of Clinton; and two nephews, George and William Brenon, of New Jersey.
Elinore's family would like to express extreme gratitude to the Lutheran Home, Assisted Living, and Saul Unit, for their excellent care and compassion. They have never witnessed such caring people who go above and beyond. A thank you would never be enough to express how we felt about her caregivers. Her family would like to especially acknowledge Michele in Administration, the secretary Sheila, her social worker Pam, her nurse Chris, her companion Donna, and Gary in maintenance.
A private graveside service will take place in Verona Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
