Obituary for Emily Kwarciak

Emily Lekki Kwarciak, age 83, of North East, PA passed away on August 29, 2015. Emily was born in Ava, NY on July 22, 1932 to the late Frank and Margaret Krawczyk Lekki. Emily graduated salutatorian from West Leyden Central School. After graduating, she worked at the Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY.
On April 14, 1956, Emily was united in marriage to F. Thomas “Tom” Kwarciak for 56 years until Tom passed away on February 4, 2013.
After moving to North East, PA in 1972, Emily’s career included owning and operating the White Diner, past Executive Director of the North East Chamber of Commerce and a successful Realtor.
Emily was a member of St. Gregory’s Church and North East American Legion Auxiliary Post 105. Emily was an avid golfer, and longtime member of Lakeview Country Club. She also participated in several local golf and bowling leagues.
Emily was a very devoted and loving mother to her three sons and daughter-in-laws and enjoyed dog sitting and walking her grand-dogs, Fox and Aspen. She also enjoyed continuing the family’s Polish Holiday traditions. Emily cherished her wonderful neighbors and friends.
Emily is survived by sons, Thomas Kwarciak and wife Kathryn (Burnham) of Bozeman, MT; Stephen Kwarciak and wife Rebecca (Passmore) of Pompano Beach, FL; Richard Kwarciak and wife Susan (Stauffer) of Bay Village, OH and Denver, CO; brothers, Frank (Dorothy) Lekki; Edmund (Helen) Lekki; Matthew (April) Lekki; sister, Adeline (John) Chmielewski; and many nieces and nephews.
Emily was predeceased by siblings Bernice Lekki, Benjamin Lekki, Bernard Lekki, Helen Halack, and Jane Kapinos.
Friends may call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, 418 North George Street, Rome, NY on Tuesday, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00pm at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1:30pm at Transfiguration Church with Fr. Paul Angelicchio officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
