Obituary: Eva Lottie Chnowski, 93, of Stamford,CT., formerly of Rome, NY., and Titusville, Fl., passed away on Saturday at 1:30pm April 20, 2013 at Stamford Hospital , in Stamford ,CT.

She was born on November 13, 1919, in Newport, NY, the 2nd daughter of Julian and Stella Lewandrowski.

She graduated Class Vice President of Newport High School (Newport Class Motto: Forward ever; backward never) and then attending Drake Business School in New York City, graduating in 1939. After graduation, Lottie worked at the Win Sum Dress Co on Seventh Avenue in the accounting department untill 1940. She then moved to California with a girl friend eventually working for the war effort with the Girls Service Club, Seventh Street USO, Riverside California untill 1945.

On January 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph Chnowski in Transfiguration Church in Rome, NY. Together fifty-six years, Lottie and Joe loved family, dancing and gardening.

Living in Stamford, then Norwalk, CT, Lottie worked at both Royal Typewriter Co. and TruLock Plastics. On a whim in 1969, Lottie and Joe decide to quit their 9 to 5 jobs and purchase the Pioneer Bowling Lanes in Barneveld, NY, which they ran together till 1973. After selling the Lanes, they returned back to Stamford, CT to be near family till 1989. At that time they retired to Titusville, Florida and lived there until Joseph's death in 2003.

This quote from 1940 is from a former employer: She is unusually accurate, efficient and possesses more than average intelligence. She is very energetic, willing and neat.

Lottie was the conduit for all family matters throughout her long life. Truth is to know her is to love her. She just loved talking to people about any subject. She was well read and informed.
