Obituary for Frank H. Browka

Frank H. Browka, 83, of Verona, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Lutheran Home in Clinton. He was born October 16, 1930, in Verona on the family farm, the son of Thomas and Rose Kuklis Browka. He was a 1948 graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.
Frank owned and operated a family farm his entire life with his brother, Edward. They raised dairy cows, beef cows and grew over 300 acres of corn every year. He was a very hardworking man, and he loved nature and animals.
He was a member of Transfiguration Church in Rome, the United Polka League, Rome Polish Home, and the New York Farm Bureau.
Frank is survived by his longtime companion, Julia Poremba, of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Mary Ellen Browka, of Verona; nieces and nephews, Maria (Martin) Tyksinski, John (Amy) Browka, Jr., Patricia Rossiter, Melanie (Kevin) Angell, Thomas (Paula) Browka, and Edward (Abigail) Browka; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and John, and a sister-in-law, Jeannette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11am at Transfiguration Church. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Irish Ridge Cemetery in Verona. Friends may call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Thursday from 4-7pm. Contributions in Frank’s memory may be made to the Rome Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
