Obituary:Iris K. Darjany, 93, of Deerfield, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010, with her loving family by her side. She was born July 2, 1917, in Buffalo, the daughter of Edward and Anna Raps Bergman. She was a graduate of Riverside High School and completed her education at Hurst’s Business School in 1934. On June 19, 1948 she married Sarhis H. "Si" Darjany, who passed away in September 2000.
Iris worked for Prudential Insurance in Buffalo for eleven years as an Assistant Office Supervisor. After moving to Utica, she worked side-by-side with Si as Business Manager for Authorized Service, their appliance sales and repair company.
In addition to being a loving and dedicated wife and mother, she devoted her time and talents to many local charities and causes most notably the Oneida County Office of the Aging Meals on Wheels program and RSVP Buttons and Bows. Iris was a member of Plymouth Bethesda United Church of Christ, devoting her time to children’s nursery and educational programs. She was also a valued member and volunteer at the North Utica Senior Center. Iris’s hobbies included gardening and needle craft.
Mrs. Darjany is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Murdoch Maclean, of Strathconon, Scotland; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Charles and Marjorie Darjany, of Deerfield, and Daniel and Helen Darjany, of Marcy; a sister, Ruth Saunders, of Batavia; eight grandchildren, Julie and Donald Dutcher, Suzanne Darjany and Eric Caporale , Sarah Darjany and James Czeh, Rebecca and Eric Falk, Daniel Darjany, Andrew Darjany, Ross and Elizabeth Maclean, and Karen Maclean; and four great-grandchildren, Zackery and Autumn Caporale and Jordan and Jesse Dutcher. Iris also leaves a beloved brother-in-law, Willis Kennedy, and many dear and special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Glenn Bergman.
Her family would like to thank the kind and professional staffs of Masonic Home’s Wiley Hall and St. Luke’s Allen Calder Two West. Their compassionate care to both Iris and her family will always be remembered.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11am at the Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Road, and New Hartford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7pm.
