Obituary for Jacqueline S. Rolewicz

Jacqueline S. Rolewicz, 77, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 with her loving family by her side. She was born August 20, 1937 in Oneida, the daughter of Stafford and Nellie Evans Smith. She was a 1955 graduate of Oneida High School. On April 28, 1962, she married Raymond R. Rolewicz. He passed away on July 17, 2001.
Jackie worked for twenty-seven years at Rome Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Church and a die-hard NY Yankees fan.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Henry Koziarz, of Rome, and Joy and George Karam, of Saratoga Springs; a brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Mary Lynn Smith, of Scotia; two cherished grandchildren, Kennedy Koziarz and Brandon Karam, and three step-grandchildren, Kelly (William) Pouliot, Kristin Koziarz, and Keith Koziarz; dearest friends Carole “Tootie” Curro, Emily Rizio, and Debbie Dombrowski; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her significant other, Herbert Breault.
Jackie’s family would also like to express their gratitude to dear friend Mary Manfredo and Nurse Cheryl P. from Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given to their mom during her illness.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:15am at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Paul’s Church with the Rev. Robert Kelly officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Irish Ridge Cemetery in Durhamville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jackie’s memory may be made to the Golisano Cancer Institute at Upstate and Hospice and Palliative Care.
