Obituary for Jeffrey L. Scott

Jeffrey L. Scott, 50, of North Bay, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Monday, July 28, 2014. He was born September 17, 1963 in Auburn and was raised on his parents, William and Beverly Brown Scott’s dairy farm. On December 19, 1987 he married Cynthia Bowers in Verona.
Jeff graduated from Luther Rice College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical and Family Counseling in May of 2012.
He worked at the Rite Aid Distribution Center in Rome from 1983-2009. He answered the call to the ministry ten years ago and has been the Pastor at Canastota Baptist Church.
Jeff was a devoted servant of the Lord Jesus Christ who loved everyone and was loved by anyone who knew him. He was very kindhearted and was willing to help anyone in need. His humor around the house was legendary, and he will be sorely missed. His charitable efforts went to everybody from children asking for money to the elderly in need of food. He was an amazing dad, and we loved him very much. He was his wife’s joy.
His favorite Bible verses were John 3:16 and Joshua 1:9.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Cindy, are: three sons, Andrew W. and Timothy P. Scott, of North Bay, and Andrew “Mime” Greico, and his fiancé, Megan Relyea, of North Bay; a sister, Shari (Kevin) Graeff, of Utica; a brother, Lari (Becky) Scott, of Adrian, MI; three brother-in-laws, Dr. Roger (Denise) Bowers, of Utica, Harold (Mary) Bowers, of Higginsville, TN, and John (Susan) Bowers, of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law, Tammie (Alan) Crumb, of Westmoreland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12pm at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Lee State Road Cemetery.
