Obituary: John G. DeHimer, 63, of Floyd Avenue, passed away, Saturday, April 10, 2010. He was born May 9, 1946 in Rome the son of Jack and Marion Castle DeHimer. John was a graduate of Rome Free Academy the Class of 1965.
He was the Manager of King Pin Lanes for twenty-five years and later was employed at Turning Stone Casino.
John proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, the Henry P. Smith Post 24 American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2246.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa DeHimer and her fiancé, Leonard Greene, Temecula, California; Amy and Guy Maillaro, Las Vegas; two sisters, Deborah (Debbie) DeHimer, Rome; Barbara DeHimer, Utica; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Billy) and Leslie, Rome; Lawrence (Larry) and Cathy, Newark, New York; Roger and Janet, Scotia, New York; three grandchildren, Dante, Antonio, Alyssa, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Paul, Martin, Craig and Dale.
Services: Funeral will be held Thursday 9:15A.M. from the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street and 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Church with Rev. Philip A. Hearn officiating. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home 3:00P.M. to 6:00P.M. Wednesday.
