Obituary:Margaret T. “Maggie” Rouillier, 89, of Rome, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009 in University Hospital in Syracuse. She was born May 17, 1919, in Rome, the daughter of Thomas and Evelyn Batchlor Turland. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy.
On March 17, 1942, she married Jesse N. Rouillier in Clinton. He passed away April 16, 1983.
Maggie worked over 28 years for the Rome Developmental Center, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church.
Maggie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan Van Court, Rome, and former son-in-law, Richard Van Court, of Lowell, and Linda and Jack Frenz, Macon, GA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Maxine, Lee Center, and Jon and Cynthia, Rome; sixteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; and a niece, Nancy Goworek, and nephew, Thomas Krahl. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dianne Carpenter, son, James Rouillier, and two sisters, Jessie Turland and Dorothy Krahl.
Maggie’s family would to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff on Floor 8 O and 5 B at University Hospital for the care and compassion shown to her during her time of need.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7pm at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery.
