Obituary: Marilyn A. McNamara, 59, of Rome , passed away with her loving family at her side, Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, after a short but courageous battle against AML leukemia.
She was born February 17, 1954, in Chicago Heights, IL, the daughter of J. Arthur and Patricia Roland May.
Marilyn was a graduate of Rome Catholic High, Class of 1972.
On March 11, 1978, she married her soulmate, Ronald J. McNamara.
` She was employed by Revere Copper Products for forty years.
Marilyn was a parishioner of St. Pauls Church.
She especially enjoyed making her husband happy, and also family gatherings, bowling, and golfing. She was fondly called “Ner Ner” by her family and closest friends.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald; her father, J. Arthur of Rome; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Matt Raisch, Glenside, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Wyatt and Rhonda McNamara, Rome; one sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Michael St.Leger, Cazenovia, NY; three brothers and their spouses, Jack and Christine May, Williamson, NY; Rick and Kim May, Salt Lake City, UT, and James May and William Kieffer, Boston, MA; four grandchildren, Jackson, Vivienne, Robert and DJ; and many adoring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia, and son, Scott McNamara.
Services: Funeral will be held Wednesday 9:45 a.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome and 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m.
