Obituary: Michael J. Kahl, 60, of Taberg, left this world to join the love of his life, his wife Belinda, on May 25, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 23, 1948, in Munich, Germany, the son of Kenneth W. and Mary A. Phelps Kahl. Mike’s father was serving in the US Army at the time. Upon returning to the United States, Mike graduated from Camden Central High School and Mohawk Valley Community College. On January 4, 1969, he married Belinda Robinson in Taberg. She passed away September 7, 2007.
Mike served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era from 1969-1977, the first six years working for Military Intelligence and the last two years as an instructor at Fort Gordon, GA.
He worked at International Wire in Camden for 23 years. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed building and carpentry.
In the last months of his life, Mike found an inner peace and happiness because of the love and kindness that was given to him by his family and friends. Mike was also very grateful for the care and compassion shown to him by Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
Mike is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Valerie Kahl, Taberg, and Christian and Heidi Kahl, Whitesboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Lawrence Snow, Lee, and Ellen and Patrick Burns, Cleveland; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Trish Kahl, Oriskany, Timothy and Rosa Kahl, Oriskany, Kevin and Mary Jo Kahl, North Syracuse, and Keith and Tina Kahl, Taberg; three grandsons, Nicholas, Jacob, and Ethan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duke and Marion Robinson, Camden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7pm at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home Inc, 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7pm.
