Obituary: Our beloved mother and grandmother, Rose Cingranelli, 94, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Rome Nursing Home with her loving family at her side. She was born on October 10, 1915, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Gerald and Gaetano Fiore Sangiacomo. She attended Utica schools. On January 8, 1938, Rose was united in marriage to Albert Cingranelli, in Utica. Mr. Cingranelli passed away on October 29, 1987.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, and the Ava Dorfman Senior Citizen Center.
Rose was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will always be in our hearts and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Archie Recchio, of Rome, and JoAnn and John Wolan, of Phoenix, AZ; two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Cindy Cingranelli, of Rome, and Gary and Barbara Cingranelli, of Floyd; a sister, Lucy Fontaine, of Utica; four brothers-in-laws, Angelo Cingranelli, Louis Cingranelli and his wife, Josie, Salvatore Frank and his wife, Norma, and Yolanda Cingranelli, all of Rome; ten grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Lusher, Steven Recchio, John C. (Anne) Wolan, Michael Wolan, Kristi (Allen) Teti, Daniel Wolan, Albert Cingranelli, Jason Cingranelli, Jeremy (fiancé, Tabitha) Cingranelli, and Elizabeth Cingranelli; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by two sisters, Josephine D’Amore, and Tessie Gallimo; and four brothers, James Sangiacomo, Rocco Sangiacomo, Gerald Sangiacomo, and Sammy Sangiacomo.
Rose’s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Nicoletta Tallandini and the staff at Rome Nursing Home for the kindness and compassion shown to her.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral
Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, at 8:45 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church where the Rev. John F. Hogan will officiate. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Rose’s memory to the Rome Nursing Home Activities Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
