Obituary:William E. Walker, 84, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. He was born April 29, 1928, in Syracuse, the son of William and Dorothy Fay Walker. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and Colgate University. On July 22, 1950, he married LaVerne Davis in St. Mary of the Assumption in Rome.
William worked for over 30 years at Revere Copper Co., retiring as a systems analyst in 1985. He later worked at Par Technology until 1990.
Mr. Walker was a Past President of the Lake Delta Kiwanis and Past Lt. Governor of the Central New York District of the Kiwanis. William was also a RCS Key Club Advisor and member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul's.
Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and was a proud member of the Kiwanis.
Surviving besides his wife of 62 years are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Carl and Marcia Walker, Oregon, WI, and Daniel Walker, of Oklahoma City, OK; two granddaughters, Dr. Joann Walker and Caitlin Walker; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Ron Ward, Twin Falls, ID; and a sister-in-law, Claire Davis, Pocasset, MA;
Services: Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10am at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7pm. Contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the St. Paul's Church Memorial Fund.
