Schenectady-Richard (Dick) Van Dyck, 86, of Schenectady, formerly of Niskayuna, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Kingsway Nursing Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Schenectady, son of the late Louis Bevier Van Dyck and Marguerite Towle. Dick graduated from Nott Terrace High School, enlisted and served in the Navy in the Pacific Rim WWII as a Seaman First Class and attended Union College. He worked for the General Electric Company as a manager of Corporate Information Technology, retired in 1989. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Dick was an avid golfer and a former member the Edison Club, loved spending his summers fishing at Lake George and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and Rotary Club of Niskayuna. He married Nancy Killip, June 30, 1951, she predeceased him in August 2010. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Stephen) Beatson of Colchester, CT; Katherine Van Dyck (Martin Herrera) of Wilmington, DE; Sarah (Daniel) Cole of Rexford, NY and Amy (Christopher) Markin of Wantagh, NY; three granddaughters, Colleen and Kerry Markin, Lizabeth (Daniel) Sorensen; three great-grandchildren, Ruby, Elke and Iver; his sister Margaret Fisher of Pattersonville, NYand brother David (Margaret) Van Dyck of West Hartford, CT and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters, Katherine Turney and Ann McLaughry and brothers, Louis, Peter and Phillip Van Dyck. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.) Schenectady, for those who wish to call. Burial will be in the urn Garden at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at a later date. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, in memory may be made to the Lake George Land Conservancy.
