Stephentown - George B. “Lump” Lombard, 63, of Stephentown, NY passed away suddenly on March 19, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Schenectady, NY on February 1, 1954. He moved with his parents to Stephentown, NY when he was 7 years old. He attended schools in Berlin, NY. He grew up in Stephentown, NY at the Valley View on Route 22, which his parents owned. He was employed for the better part of 30 years at Pittsfield Sand and Gravel, Local 98 Union as a heavy equipment operator before taking early retirement in 2012. Every year he looked forward to celebrating his birthday with friends and family. For many of his early years he celebrated by having a “Pond Party” at the pond behind his parents property at the Valley View. He always reminisced and shared those stories as if they happened yesterday. More recently, he celebrated birthdays in his garage at his home. He enjoyed riding his Harley’s and four wheeling. His favorite hobby was searching Craigslist to buy, sell or trade cars, bikes, four wheelers and boats. He looked forward to his Tuesday nights and his glass of Makers Mark with his best friend. He enjoyed his daily breakfast with friends, either at Friendly Fred’s or Gardner’s Diner. He was especially known for his quick wit, “constructive criticism”, and his strong use of the English language. George was so loved because of his huge heart, although he tried to hide that with his tough exterior. He will be remembered always because of the type of man he was. He treasured dearly the time he spent with all of his close friends. He was so proud to be a grandfather. He looked forward to spending all the time he could with his grandchildren. He was usually seen around town with his dog Jet, whom he considered one of his best friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean Lombard, his daughter Amy Filiault and son-in- law Patrick Filiault, step daughters Gina Zsido, Erica Cahoon and son-in- law Scott Pellerin, step sons Steven Cahoon and Christopher Cahoon and his wife Colleen Cahoon, Sister Marsha Henderson, brother-in- law Jeff Henderson, nieces Lindsay Janssen and Harley Henderson, nephew Hunter Henderson, and grandchildren Paige Filiault, PJ Filiault, Colette Pellerin, Aidan Cahoon and Dyllan Cahoon. He is predeceased by his parents, Margaret and George Lombard, Sr.
