Edward J. Malone, 90, former Troy resident for 85 years, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Cedar Crest Retirement Village.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Patrick Malone and Elizabeth Hurley Malone and
husband of Katherine Kelly Malone of Pompton Plains, NJ and a former Troy resident for over 80 years. Ed and Katherine recently moved to New Jersey to be closer to their daughter Carol.
Raised and educated in Troy, Ed was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, class of 1939, Siena College, class of 1943, Albany Law School as a member of the class of 1949 and admitted to the New York Bar that same year. He was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. Ed was an attorney in the Troy area for over 50 years, most recently with Ceresia, Singiser & Malone. He served as a Trustee at LaSalle Institute and Siena College while being a very active participant in the Alumni Associations at both schools. He was a member of the Rensselaer County Bar Association and a Trustee of Catholic Charities in Albany. Ed was an avid fan of Siena College Saints' basketball and a lifelong Detroit Tiger fan. Fun to be around and always the life of a party. He enjoyed the thoroughbred horse season at Saratoga. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy where he was a lector.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Katherine, include, a son James Malone of Lake Tahoe, NV,
a daughter Carol Ann (Michael) Clarke, two grandchildren Brian and Kelly Clarke all of Sparta, NJ.
Ed was predeceased by a brother William Malone.
Funeral Services will be 8:45 a.m. Monday from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th St. and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
Calling hours will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
