Evelyn Chenes, 79 former 15th Street resident, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Eddy Heritage House.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Augustus K. Chenes and Irene Karandreas Chenes.
Raised and educated in Troy, she was a graduate of Troy High School. Evelyn received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in English from Russell Sage College and a second master's degree in Library Science from SUNY Albany. She was a member of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, Troy.
Survivors include a sister Angeline Capetanakis (Basil) of Brooklyn,
two brothers Constantine "Con" Chenes (Tess) and Paul Chenes (Christine) all of Troy, nieces and nephews Charles Capetanakis, Esq. (Dena) of Brooklyn, John Capetanakis (Elissa) of CT, Dr. Maria Grigos (Anthony) of Brooklyn, Karen Loatman (Richard) of Clifton Park, Christopher Chenes of Troy, ten great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 11:00 a.m. at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 909 River Street, Troy with Fr. Emmanuel E. Mantzouris.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
