Patricia Keniston

Patricia "Pat" Keniston, 72, passed Wednesday, February 2, 2011 peacefully at her home of 72 years, 147 Main Street, Tupper Lake, with her family at her side. Pat was born July 29, 1938 to Clarence and Ella (Boyer) Keniston. She attended local schools and graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1956. She then took a post grad course at Tupper Lake HIgh School in 1957. Pat helped with the family taxi service for a number of years and was self employed as a Star Route Mail Carrier for over 30 years. He entire life was devoted as a primary caregiver for her parents. She took great pride in maintaining the family home. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, nature and most of all "Animals". Pat had a unique gift of caring and relating with all kinds of animals. Over the years, she befriended and cared for many birds, cats, dogs, horses, squirrels and deer. Something was always showing up on her steps looking for a "handout" which she happily gave! She enjoyed walking her dog "Billie" throughout the neighborhood and will be missed by all her neighbors. She also shared her home with "Tweety" her cockatiel who was great entertainment. Pat continued her "mothers tradition" of having a beautiful garden and flowers, often sharing with friends and family. She also continued her fathers tradition of playing lottery numbers faithfully each day. Pat was truly a non-materialistic person enjoying the simple things inlife, but always willing to help anyone in need. She loved her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, her brother and sister. She is survived by her brother and wife, Larry and Jeanette Keniston, her sister Mary Jo Daniels, her dog Billie and bird Tweety and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her father Clarence (Tanny" Keniston, her mother Ella Keniston and a nephew Larry Keniston Jr. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 10, from 4 to 6 pm. A short service and celebration of her life will be held at 5 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home Funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in her memory be made to High Peaks Hospice or the Tri-Lakes Humane Society.
