Alice J. (Kouhoupt) Saqlain, 71 of Broadway, Kingston, formerly of Green St, Port Ewen, died Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus following a brief illness.
She was born in Kingston, N.Y on August 2nd, 1948, a daughter of late James and Marie (Soper) Kouhoupt.
Alice was employed as an assembler at the Cigar Factory in Kingston, in the mail room of the Kingston Daily Freeman, and in retail sales in various stores throughout Kingston.
She enjoyed playing poker with family and friends, bingo at the former Moose Lodge in Port Ewen, and penny socials. She loved cats.
She is survived by her son, Scott J. Whispell, and his wife Jessica, of Gardiner, granddaughter, Tori F. Whispell of Saugerties, two sisters, Geri Kouhoupt and Joyce Fuentes, and her husband Julio, of Kingston, nieces and nephews, Julio Fuentes, Jr., of Lake Katrine, Frankie Fuentes of Kingston, Kimberly Fuentes and her companion Kevin, and Melissa Fuentes, and her companion, Tony, all of Lake Katrine, Marcie Torres and Jose Torres, both of Kingston, and Maria Ramos of Texas. Many great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway Ulster Park on Monday, January 20th, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, followed by a time of remembrance at 1:30 pm.
Burial will follow at St. Remy Cemetery.
