Anna Stokrocki

Anna Merges Stokrocki, 98, lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park, entered into rest on November 25, 2011 at the Pines at Poughkeepsie Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Ann was born October 28, 1913, the daughter of Joseph Merges and Mary Mihal Merges. She was a graduate of St. Peter's School and Poughkeepsie High School. She was later employed by DeLaval Separator Company. A talented golfer, she also enjoyed gardening, sewing and furniture refinishing. She married Stanley W. Stokrocki in the Church of St. John the Baptist on July 9, 1950. After celebrating their 50 years of marriage in July of 2000, he passed away on February 26, 2001. Following his death, Anna remained in the home that she loved until 2008. For the last several years, she resided at the Pines. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. She is survived by her son, Stanley J. Stokrocki of Poughkeepsie, her sister Josephine Myers of Wappingers Falls, and Josephine's grandchildren, Richard Kinghorn, Rose Marie Varas, and Susan Craig. Anna was predeceased by her nieces M. Kathy Kinghorn and Barbara Trochan. Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls Monday from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Church, Clinton St., Wappingers Falls. Burial Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
